An object oriented code for simulating supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories

چکیده
We present SUSY LATTICE a C++ program that can be used to simulate certain classes of supersymmetric Yang–Mills (SYM) theories, including the well known N = 4 SYM in four dimensions, on a flat Euclidean space-time lattice. Discretization of SYM theories is an old problem in lattice field theory. It has resisted solution until recently when new ideas drawn from orbifold constructions and topological field theories have been brought to bear on the question. The result has been the creation of a new class of lattice gauge theories in which the lattice action is invariant under one or more supersymmetries. The resultant theories are local, free of doublers and also possess exact gauge-invariance. In principle they form the basis for a truly non-perturbative definition of the continuum SYM theories. In the continuum limit they reproduce versions of the SYM theories formulated in terms of twisted fields, which on a flat space-time is just a change of the field variables. In this paper, we briefly review these ideas and then go on to provide the details of the C++ code. We sketch the design of the code, with particular emphasis being placed on SYM theories with N = (2, 2) in two dimensions and N = 4 in three and four dimensions, making one-to-one comparisons between the essential components of the SYM theories and their corresponding counterparts appearing in the simulation code. The code may be used to compute several quantities associated with the SYM theories such as the Polyakov loop, mean energy, and the width of the scalar eigenvalue distributions.

Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theories from Domain Wall Fermions
We present work in progress on employing domain wall fermions to simulate N = 1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories on the lattice in d = 4 and d = 3 dimensions. The geometrical nature of domain wall fermions gives simple insights into how to construct these theories. We also discuss the obstacles associated with simulating the N = 2 theory in d = 4. 1 Chirality and accidental supersymmetry Ther...
متن کاملMonopole and Dyon Bound States in N=2 Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theories
We study the existence of monopole bound states saturating the BPS bound in N=2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories. We describe how the existence of such bound states relates to the topology of index bundles over the moduli space of BPS solutions. Using an L index theorem, we prove the existence of certain BPS states predicted by Seiberg and Witten based on their study of the vacuum structure o...
متن کاملScaling Violations in Yang - Mills Theories and Strings in AdS 5
String solitons in AdS 5 contain information of N = 4 SUSY Yang-Mills theories on the boundary. Recent proposals for rotating string solitons reproduce the spectrum for anomalous dimensions of Wilson operators for the boundary theory. There are possible extensions of this duality for lower supersymmetric and even for non-supesymmetric Yang-Mills theories. We explicitly demonstrate that the supe...
متن کاملLow Energy Dynamics of Monopoles in Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theories with Hypermultiplets
We derive the low energy dynamics of monopoles and dyons in N = 2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories with hypermultiplets in arbitrary representations by utilizing a collective coordinate expansion. We consider the most general case that Higgs fields both in the vector multiplet and in the hypermultiplets have nonzero vacuum expectation values. The resulting theory is a supersymmetric quantum m...
متن کاملThree Dimensional Gauge Theories and Monopoles
The coulomb branch of N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills gauge theories in d = 2 + 1 is studied. A direct connection between gauge theories and monopole moduli spaces is presented. It is proposed that the hyper-Kähler metric of supersymmetric N = 4 SU(N) Yang-Mills theory is given by the charge N centered moduli space of BPS monopoles in SU(2). The theory is compared to N = 2 supersymmetric Yang-M...
